| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| What is it? | A Bluetooth sensor made by Teltonika, model BTSMP1 |
| Does it have GPS? | No. The compatible tracker supplies the location |
| What else do I need? | A compatible Teltonika tracker with Bluetooth |
| What does it measure? | Temperature, humidity, movement, pitch/roll and magnet status |
| Where do I see the data? | In Fleet Mate through the connected Teltonika tracker |
The Eye Sensor is a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) sensor designed to monitor conditions around a trailer, vehicle, asset or piece of equipment.
It measures temperature, humidity, movement and magnet status. A nearby compatible Teltonika tracker receives those readings, adds its own location and time information, and sends the data to Fleet Mate.
The Eye Sensor itself does not contain GPS or a cellular modem. The Teltonika tracker acts as the gateway between the sensor and Fleet Mate.
At 56.6 x 38 x 13 mm and 18 g, it is small enough to mount inside trailers, storage areas, equipment compartments or near doors and hatches. There is no external wiring, SIM card or routine charging.
| Reading | What you get | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Temperature | Temperature readings from the sensor | Refrigerated trailers, cold storage and temperature-sensitive loads |
| Humidity | Relative humidity readings | Dry goods, storage areas and humidity-sensitive cargo |
| Movement | Movement status, movement count, pitch and roll information | Equipment and asset movement monitoring |
| Magnet status | Detects whether a configured magnet is present or removed | Trailer doors, hatches and open/close monitoring |
The standard operating and temperature measurement range is -20 °C to +60 °C. Humidity can be reported from 0% to 100%.
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Fit it | Place the sensor where conditions need to be monitored, such as inside a refrigerated trailer, equipment compartment or beside a door. |
| 2. Tracker listens | A compatible Teltonika tracker scans for the Eye Sensor over Bluetooth. |
| 3. Sensor reports | The sensor broadcasts its configured temperature, humidity, movement and magnet-status readings. |
| 4. Fleet Mate receives the data | The tracker combines the sensor information with its own location and time records and sends the supported data to Fleet Mate. |
| Tracker | Good for |
|---|---|
| FMC003 | Plug-in OBD tracking for compatible cars and light vehicles |
| FMC920 | Compact hardwired vehicle tracking |
| FMC130 | Advanced installations requiring additional inputs and outputs |
| FMC150 | Vehicle tracking with integrated CAN data capabilities |

| Need | How the Eye Sensor helps |
|---|---|
| Monitor load temperature on the road | Temperature and humidity readings can be received by the vehicle’s Teltonika tracker and associated with its location and time. |
| Know where a reading occurred | The gateway tracker provides the location information associated with the sensor data sent to Fleet Mate. |
| Monitor trailer doors | A magnet can be installed with the Eye Sensor so changes in magnet presence can represent door open and close events. |
The standard Eye Sensor is useful for operational temperature monitoring. Where certified temperature records are required for a specific regulatory or cold-chain process, the applicable requirements should be checked before deployment.
| Use | What the sensor does |
|---|---|
| Refrigerated trailers and vans | Monitors temperature and humidity |
| Trailer doors and hatches | Reports changes in magnet status for open/close monitoring |
| Equipment and tools | Reports movement and movement count |
| Storage and warehouses | Monitors conditions where installing wired sensors is impractical |
| Eye Sensor | Eye Beacon | ATEX Eye Sensor | |

| Temperature and humidity | Yes | No | Yes |
| Movement and magnet detection | Yes | No | Yes |
| Best for | Cold chain, doors and equipment monitoring | Trailers, tools and driver identification | Sensor monitoring in suitable hazardous environments |
| ATEX certified | No | No | Yes |
| Needs a gateway tracker | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Point | Detail |
|---|---|
| Gateway needed | The Eye Sensor has no GPS or cellular connection of its own. A compatible Teltonika tracker provides location and sends its readings onward. |
| Movement monitoring | The accelerometer reports movement information. It does not physically prevent an asset from being moved. |
| Bluetooth range | Up to 80 metres in open-air conditions. Vehicle bodies, metal, walls and other obstructions can reduce practical range. |
| Only need identification? | If temperature, humidity, movement and magnet readings are not required, the Teltonika Eye Beacon provides Bluetooth identification without the additional sensing functions. |
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Model | Teltonika BTSMP1 |

| Operating temperature | -20 °C to +60 °C |
| Dimensions | 56.6 x 38 x 13 mm |
| Weight | 18 g |
| Setup | Teltonika EYE App over Bluetooth |
| Setting at 2 dBm | Battery life |
|---|---|
| Signal every 3 seconds | 2.5+ years |
| Signal every 5 seconds — default | 4+ years |
| Signal every 10 seconds | 5+ years |
Battery life depends on configuration and operating conditions. Faster advertising intervals allow more frequent detection but use more battery, while longer intervals extend expected battery life.
Compatible Fleet Mate tracking hardware includes the FMC003 OBD2 GPS Tracker, FMC920 Professional GPS Tracker, FMC130 Advanced GPS Tracker and Teltonika FMC150 GPS Tracker.
What does the Eye Sensor measure?
It measures temperature, humidity, movement and magnet status. Its accelerometer can also provide movement count, pitch and roll information.
Does the Eye Sensor have GPS?
No. The Eye Sensor does not determine or transmit its own GPS location. A compatible Teltonika tracker acts as the gateway and provides the location.
Do I need a GPS tracker?
Yes, when using the Eye Sensor with Fleet Mate. A compatible Bluetooth-enabled Teltonika tracker receives the sensor readings and sends them to Fleet Mate together with its own tracking information.
Can I use it in a refrigerated trailer?
Yes. Temperature and humidity monitoring are common Eye Sensor applications. The standard sensor operates from -20 °C to +60 °C, so the required temperature range should be checked against the intended load and environment.
How do I detect a door opening?
Install the Eye Sensor and a suitable magnet so the magnetic field changes when the door opens or closes. The sensor can then report magnet presence or absence through the compatible gateway tracker.
Eye Sensor or Eye Beacon?
Choose the Eye Beacon when only Bluetooth identification is required. Choose the Eye Sensor when temperature, humidity, movement or magnet-status readings are also needed.
How long does the Eye Sensor battery last?
Teltonika specifies 4+ years at the default 5-second advertising interval, 2.5+ years at 3 seconds and 5+ years at 10 seconds.
Is the Eye Sensor waterproof?
The Eye Sensor is rated IP67 for dust and water ingress protection when used within the manufacturer’s specified conditions.
Does the Eye Sensor work with Fleet Mate?
Yes. A compatible Teltonika tracker acts as the Bluetooth gateway. It receives the Eye Sensor data and sends the supported readings together with the tracker’s location and time information to Fleet Mate.
